Jessell Bassett, Founder of AIClvrColabs

From an early age as the oldest of four, I learned responsibility, empathy, and grit in a family that immigrated from Nicaragua to Miami, where my father, a passionate programmer, ensured technology was front and center in our lives. Winning my first programming competition in high school lit a spark that is still with me, but the real gift was the sense of curiosity and initiative I developed by growing up in a household where leadership meant service to others and to a greater goal.

When I transitioned into leadership at a Fortune 500 company, mentors entrusted me to broker partnerships with Yahoo and MSN and to connect engineering and sales across continents, challenging me to quickly adapt, learn Portuguese, and grow as a manager in new environments. Each new challenge stretched me further, and leading technical teams across borders required not just technical acumen, but a deep understanding of diverse cultures and constant communication.

At NBC, I faced my toughest challenge yet: managing both development and design to deliver significant revenue growth while unifying a team that spanned multiple backgrounds, all under the pressure of high expectations and shifting executive priorities. The weight was real, but it sharpened my focus.

That was when I truly realized that my upbringing — the responsibility, adaptability, and empathy I learned caring for my siblings and supporting my parents — was exactly what I needed to succeed as a leader. Understanding what motivates people and acknowledging their contributions, I saw that culture eats strategy for breakfast, and made it a priority to align every person’s purpose to the company’s vision and KPIs.

My approach has always centered on transparency, mission, and results. Most recently, serving as VP of Technology and CISO at Onspire Health Marketing, I implemented a robust SDLC and CI/CD strategy, reducing client release times by 96 percent, building scalable cloud infrastructure, and mentoring high-performing teams. I drove AI platform roadmap execution, eliminated bottlenecks, completed HIPAA compliance, and ensured our technical playbooks created consistency and empowered every engineer. Aligning diverse teams, I have prioritized measurable impact, uplifted team culture, and kept our delivery sharp through organizational changes and rapid scaling.

The business impact has been significant: a 96 percent reduction in release time, 40 percent projected cost reduction in operations, 100 percent HIPAA compliance, improved uptime, and a persistent focus on innovation that has led to both internal promotion and recognition as a transformational leader.

“Today, I wake up driven to set an example for my children and my team, showing that through purpose, humility, and the willingness to grow, it is possible to unite people, accelerate progress, and build technology that matters for communities and for families like mine.”
